Prove Me Wrong

14/5/2013

Sometimes the air stifles, smothers – hard to breath.
Sometimes the muffling, tangle of my mind deafens.
Sometimes when I think the strangling, putrid thoughts won’t be unwound
I am proved wrong.

Since seeing the deep, seeping stare of nervous admiration.
Since the phone call that sapped my energy, shooed my thoughts away.
Since the snapping, electric touch which sent my heart to flutter
I have been proved wrong.

Time has passed yet my heart still calls out unconstrained.
Time keeps the sharp, fervent  breath of anticipation lasting.
Time never slows to let me rejoice of the little things –
   The touch of velvet comfort
   The musky, lulling smell
   The protecting embrace
or the voice who proves me wrong

Even though I get broken I know I will be fixed.
If I let the stinging tears run they will be swept aside.
Now when I look into your cordial, overwhelming eyes
I know you proved me wrong.

I know you proved me wrong.
