Guardian Core - Synopsis
Guardian Core is set in the imaginary country of Branzia, a land cut off from the rest of the world due to the widespread influence of magic. However, it is not a peaceful land with much fighting taking place. A war over the Sky Stones just coming to an end.
Skyla, the main character of the book, holds one of these coveted Sky Stones, and hence she is known as a Sky Guardian. The entire land of Branzia knows of her as the Phoenix, but whether she is regarded as a hero or a murderer depends on which side of the war you fought on. Despite Skyla’s hope to settle down with the war now over, she is pulled into the planning of a base for all Sky Guardians. This base would become known as the Guardian Core. Sky Guardians from all around Branzia would come to the Guardian Core to share their unique abilities and aim for their united goal in bringing peace and balance back to Branzia. With planning only just begun, Skyla’s greatest weakness is exposed, her abilities fading. She attempts to hide this from her friends but in the process of trying to protect others she finds she is barely able to protect herself. To avoid destruction, Skyla must renew her will and passion for life, never expecting that the thing she loved and held closest would end her. But, when your love leaves you, do you go chasing it or do you find something, or someone, to replace it? Skyla faces many trials, both physical and mental. Despite her lessened skills she is accosted with the knowledge that something terrible approaches, and she will need her full strength to face it. The banners must fly. The Phoenix must rise. Is the Phoenix a symbol for hope or desolation? Will Skyla succeed in protecting everything she loves and has worked so hard to achieve? Or will she suffer a foretold yet tragic fate? |
