You Know You're a Writer When...

Picture
  • People you meet during the day suddenly have elaborate back stories based on only meagre snippets that they give you
  • Places you go become the settings for epic battles, romantic antics, and scandals
  • Music you play is a soundtrack to an imaginary movie often depicting your own characters
  • You get grumpy at people who interrupt your writing 'zone'
  • You talk to your friends about imaginary characters, settings, and plots, expecting them to be on the same wavelength as you
Picture
  • You run from your bedroom in a panic at midnight because you just dreamt an awesome story idea
  • University and school assignments seem like a waste of time, taking up time you could be spending on writing
  • Cutting out sentences or paragraphs is one of the most stressful things you do
Picture
  • You keep old versions of your stories without anything cut out (just so you don't lose those precious words!)
  • You despise when people ask, “So, what happens in your book?”
  • Procrastination can still be useful
Picture
  • You edit your Facebook and Twitter posts for correct grammar and rearrange the sentences to produce better tone of voice
  • You go on an overseas holiday and worry about when your next opportunity will be to write everything down
  • You take a notebook to the bathroom in case you have inspiration during your bath
  • Bad grammar destroys your ability to enjoy what you have just read
  • You fall in love with your characters (and anyone that criticises them will find themselves dead in your next book!)
  • Your bag always contains a book to read, a notebook, and a pen
Picture
  • Your mood and what's happening in your story reflect each other
  • YOU WRITE!

Definitely not Carla! In fact, on the occasions I forget to take a notebook to the bathroom, I'll sometimes run naked from the bath too :P
